Getting a tattoo can be exciting. It can be spontaneous, something to help you remember an event, something important to you, a memorial to someone close to you, and/or a beautiful mark for you to display throughout the rest of your life. We put an emphasis on the rest of your life because it really is a big decision, and it’s a decision we feel deserves respect.
All too often do we see tattoo artists quickly and poorly drawing an intricate and important tattoo for a client just to close the deal that day - when the client would have been much better served by allowing the artist to draw and perfect the drawing over a short period of time. Once something is tattooed in, it's either difficult or sometimes impossible to fix a mistake. We feel clients deserve better than this fly by night tradition.
Here is what we encourage all of our clients to do when possible - especially when dealing with intricate or custom tattoos:
First, make an appointment for a consultation. They’re free. This gives you an opportunity to meet your artist and discuss your ideas. If the artist decides to take the project on allow him a few days or weeks to research the subject matter of your tattoo and plenty of time to draw it. An artist will generally work within your availability. They'll go over the design with you on a follow up visit and changes can be made until you’re happy and everything is perfect.
After the drawing is 100% ready to go you and your artist will schedule a day for the appointment, blocking out sufficient time for setup, the tattoo process, breaks, cleanup, and time to discuss the care of your tattoo.
While we definitely prefer our process of tattooing, we sometimes understand that you may be from out of town or have a limited schedule and need it done much quicker. Don't hesitate to talk to us and see if we can accommodate you and your schedule.
You SHOULD hydrate yourself very well before you enter the studio. Being hydrated means drinking water and juices, not soda and alcohol.
You SHOULD expect to listen to some expertise from the artist. While something may look good on paper, it may not look well on skin. We'll let you know.
You SHOULD show up to your appointment on time. Because we turn other clients away during this time slot, we lose money if you don’t show up. You will be charged a cancellation fee if you cancel or do not show up. Just show up and we’ll all be happy!
You SHOULD NOT drink alcohol before you come in. This will cause your blood to thin and will be visible in the tattoo.
You SHOULD NOT take any blood thinners at all.
You SHOULD NOT bring a lot of friends with you. Tattooing is not a team sport, and we only allow one other person to be with you anyhow.
You SHOULD NOT bring kids to the studio. While we love kids, they can be a distraction to you, the artist, and other guests in our studio.
